Jack Kent

Research Director - Technology, Media and Telecommunications, IHS Markit

Jack Kent is a research director at IHS Markit, leading research on consumer technology and media platforms, mobile applications and services, and telecoms operator strategies.  Jack joined the company in 2008 and launched its coverage of the mobile applications business. Jack is the author of a range of reports covering subjects including: the platform strategies of leading technology companies; the potential for messaging app disruption for operators, media companies, payments, and commerce; augmented reality and virtual reality; the rise of digital assistants; technology investment and M&A activity; the evolution of China’s mobile ecosystems; and the outlook for 5G.

Jack has also led a number of consultancy projects helping clients including telecoms operators, media companies, device makers, investors, and regulators on subjects including: the development of technology ecosystems; content partnerships and international product launch strategies; the development of the kids’ mobile app market.

Jack has more than 10 years media intelligence and market research experience, having previously worked for GfK and UK business intelligence and publishing company Emap. A regular speaker at industry conferences, Jack is widely quoted by trade publications and leading news organisations including the BBC, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Guardian, Reuters, CNBC, and the Financial Times. Jack holds a degree in English Language and Literature from King’s College London.
